In December, 2010, the Power Fund Board and The Office of Energy Independence (OEI) released the Iowa Power Fund Economic Impact Study. The newly completed study, commissioned by the OEI, shows increased jobs, tax revenue and statewide economic activity as a result of Iowa Power Fund projects. POWER FUND PROJECTS HELP PILOT IOWA'S ENERGY FUTURE

Since its creation, the Iowa Power Fund has invested more than $71.6 million directly in 50 competitive projects, leveraging over $604 million in energy research, development, early stage commercialization and education. In Emmetsburg, Power Fund dollars are helping grow Iowa's biofuels economy with POET Project Liberty, the "bolt-on" transformation of a traditional ethanol biorefinery into an integrated corn-to-ethanol, cellulose-to-ethanol biorefinery.

At Iowa State University, the Power Fund is helping develop PhotoVoltaic energy to make this technology more cost-competitive with other forms of energy and help spur economic development in the solar energy sector.

CURRENTLY NO NEW COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED

The Iowa Power Fund Community Grant Program enabled cities, counties, non-profit organizations, organizations get involved with energy efficiency or conservation efforts, and environmental organizations. The program provides grants to help these organizations and communities create local programs to save energy.
